International Business Committee

NZCCHK is represented on Hong Kong's International Business Committee (IBC).

The IBC is chaired by Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Government, the Hon. Henry Tang, and meets about every quarter at the Central Government Offices. The IBC is a vehicle for the Hong Kong Government to update the international business community on activities and developments undertaken by the Government. At the same time, the IBC provides opportunity for the business sector to provide the Government with feedback about conditions and concerns within the international business community.

The IBC holds a preliminary meeting prior to each scheduled IBC meeting, chaired on a rotational basis by member Chambers and hosted by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

The IBC comprises representatives (usually the respective Chairman) of Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations from the following countries: Australia; Austria; Bahrain; Belgium-Luxembourg; Canada; Denmark; Finland; France; Germany; Great Britain; India; Ireland; Israel; Italy; Korea; Japan; the Netherlands; New Zealand; Norway; Singapore; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; Thailand; and the United States of America. Various Government departments are represented as are the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the International Chamber of Commerce and the European Chamber of Commerce.

The following position papers (posted here following each quarterly meeting) relate to the activities of the IBC. Some papers are submitted by the Hong Kong Government and others by individuals or lobby groups and as such the papers do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the NZCCHK or its members.
